The happiest moments of my life have been the few which I have passed at home in the bosom of my family. ~ Thomas Jefferson

It's a BOY...6lbs 13oz and 20-1/4 inches long:)
Yesterday at Allison's Dr. apt. Dr. Janeway went ahead and scheduled her to be induced this morning (Saturday) at about 7 am. So we got up early and checked in at the hospital only to be sent home.
Several other women showed up at the same time and Allison had not progressed as far as they had. So Dr. Janeway rescheduled for her to come back in Sunday night at 9 pm. No problem!
We returned home and went to work on Saturday chores. By late afternoon Allison and her mother had an urge to go finish some shopping. Half-way through Target Allison told her Mom "we had better return home quick, I'm starting to have much more painful contractions". Chris didn't beat around the bush and hustled Allison home.
By 4 pm (only a few hours ago if you look at when I posted this) Allison was still having contractions every 2-3 minutes, so she called the nurse. It happens that the nurse on duty is a friend from church. Dawn (the nurse) told Allison to go ahead and come in at least for a check up. Allison hung up the phone and promptly told me she was going to walk up to the hospital and that I'd better hurry.
Hurry I did, and we were readmitted to the hospital. By 6 pm her water broke and she continued to have fairly effective contractions. They increased rapidly until about 7:30pm when Allison told me I'd better go get the nurse and the doctor. I told them she was really feeling pressure and wanting to push.
They quickly shuffled in and started to prepare but didn't rush too hastily. However Allison was not kidding, she really felt pressure and was starting to have a desire to push. By then Dawn and Dr. Janeway could see this was not going to take long and things started to move very quickly. Needless to say, Dr. Janeway sat on the end of the bed and had me sit back to back with him. Allison literally pushed twice in 5 minutes and that was it. I helped catch Alexander and cut his umbilical cord, we then lifted him onto Allison's chest. A handsome, healthy, little boy. What a marvelous blessing and miracle!
note: I'm home with Adele so Grandma Briggs could go see her new grandson. I'll go back in an hour or so and stay with Allison for the next 48 hrs.....
